happy birthday, baby!

30 years ago at this moment I was in the hospital with labor pains. Our son, Caine, was born at 7:31 am, on February 22, 1974. Believe me, it was a LONG night! Back then your hubby wasn't allowed to sit by your side, you had to suffer alone.....that really sucked.
I started with labor pains around 8:30 pm. I took a shower, got my stuff together, hubby and my Dad (may he rest in peace) drove me to the hospital in our little red Vega. About 5 miles or so from the hospital the car kept stalling out....talk about freakin' out! The gas had water in it, this was the time of the great fuel crisis. You could only buy gas on odd or even days. We did make it to the hospital, thank God! It would be hours before Caine popped out. Of course, he was the cutest little dude in the nursery! He was 5lbs. or so, and 21 inches long. Long and skinny, and he is still that way. 6'2, 145lbs. soaking wet.
